During my time in YWAM I’ve had a couple of mentors – role models who would walk alongside me and share their wisdom. I really enjoyed the moments when they gave their advice and helped me to process what God is doing in my life. I believe God used them to inspire me to be more christlike.
Recently I was reading a blog that compared studying the Bible with being mentored. By studing the Bible you get the opportunity to be mentored by 40+ of the most influential men and women of faith who have ever lived. Who doesn’t want to learn from people like Moses, David and the apostle Paul? God revealed Himself to them on a deep level and by their writings they are passing on their wisdom to us.
But this wisdom is not secondhand, because through their letters, stories, poetry etc. ultimately God Himself is speaking to us. 
He inspired those people to write the books that make up our Bible and wants to use this text to pass on divine wisdom and revelation. He wants to speak life into our lives so we get transformed for the good.
I have seen this happening in my life many times. Through studying the Bible God gave me wisdom for situations I was in. Sometimes I was struggling with something and exactly that week God spoke to me through the book I was studying. When I struggled with shame, He gave me a deeper revelation of His grace. When I found it hard to trust Him, I discovered more about His faithfulness. And this list of examples continues.
This is why we are so enthusiastic about our new school “Bible for Life”. We believe that through engaging with the Bible God will also speak into your life. This will inevitably lead to life change. Your relationship with God will be deepened, it will influence the way you worship, intercede and do missions. These old words will become new when you let the Holy Spirit mentor you while diving into God’s Word. Do you take up the challenge?
Bible For Life is a three month Bible school, during which you will discover the grand Story of the Bible – the story of God’s Kingdom. You will learn to read and study the Bible in a responsible and practical way. And you will read the Bible devotionally and be equipped to share the Word.
