YWAM’s motto ‘To know God and make Him known’ is very clear about two of the core elements of the Christian life. We long to relationally know Him who knew us first; Gods love for us and our love for Him spill over into a desire to see others know Him.
Here are first some thoughts on knowing God. The next post is about making Him known.
“In the beginning God…” These well-known first words of our Bible reveal the God who is and always has been. After these words the story of creation follows: God shows Himself a life-giving, creative God. He’s powerful, wise and creates beauty. He blesses mankind with the mandate to rule his good and beautiful earth. That is: see to it that it remains good and beautiful, make things grow and flourish and care for everyone and everything that’s on it.
In the whole Story that follows, God doesn’t change. He’s faithful, loving, wise, righteous and good. This is a God you would want to know more and more. The biblical story shows that this is what He wants. He is ever revealing Himself and entering into covenants (which is: relationships). He brings back to Himself the children He created, who so often wander away from Him and his way of life. He gave his word, his Son, his Spirit, so that relationship with Him can be enjoyed and maintained.
He is wonderful and beautiful. He is great and worthy of praise. He dwelt among us in Jesus.
Exploring the Bible in a course like Bible For Life is an exploration into the being and ways of this Creator and Savior God.
